Mom got me some learning videos

My mom had already borrowed Baby Einstein dvd's from the library along with several other learning videos but I didn't take to them. I was bored and didn't pay any attention to them. However, my mom's friend recommended a series of videos called "Your Baby Can Read" and she insisted that her kids were talking because of these videos she thought she'd give them another try. So she borrowed Your Baby Can Read Vol 1 from the library and what do you know ... I seem to like it. Click here to visit their website. It seems that I have learned where my ears are and my toes are so far. She is probably going to buy the whole series soon. She retried the Baby Einstein series with me, but I still find it too slow and boring. Another one that I seem to like so far is Brainy Baby.

I love pillows

I often steal the pillows from right under my Dad's head.

I eat with a spoon

I am getting pretty good at eating with a spoon. Watch me in this video clip.

I dance to Hi-5

I really like the show Hi-5. It comes on at 8am on TVO and if my mom is trying to feed me breakfast while I sit in the highchair at the time, she has to let me down because otherwise I try to dance while strapped into the highchair. Watch me dancing, singing and clapping in this videoclip.

I ate McDonalds Fries

I eat corn flakes

My mom puts some corn flakes in a ziploc bag and crushes them so that they will be smaller pieces and she lets them sit in the milk for a little while so that they soften before she feeds them to me. I like them quite a bit. Yum!

I went to McDonalds

We went to McDonalds today. I played in the playplace and I even sat in one of their highchairs happily eating french fries.

My latest favourite show is Hi-5

Whenever the show comes on (which is 8am in the morning) I start dancing. If my mom is feeding me at the time, I dance in the highchair until she lets me out so I can jump around.

I love chicken soup

I can't get enough of this soup.

I'm getting new teeth

It appears that I am getting two more teeth at the bottom (side incisors) and one back molar on my top left. I really like to eat, so I look forward to when they come through fully so that I can chew food better. The new teeth are circled in the diagram below. Making noise in the shopping cart

While my Dad is loading the car up with groceries that we just purchased (because I eat a lot), I make lots of noise while sitting in the shopping cart.

I jump on Dada

Dada came home after being out for a short time. I was so happy to see him that I jumped on him and beat him up. Watch me, in this videoclip:

I make this gesture with my hand on my forehead when I want something.

I eat mushrooms from mommys omelette

Whenever my mom eats her mushroom omelette I sit in the highchair and insist that she put her plate on my tray. I then pick out all the mushrooms and eat them. I don't digest them very well but I suppose when I get molars I will chew them up a little better.

Mommy cut my hair

Mommy cut my hair last night while I was sleeping. I woke up once and was very very upset with her and cried a lot. She has no choice but to cut my hair while I sleep though because I won't sit still long enough for her to do it while I am awake. Photos to come soon.

I climb things now

Watch me climb the soft to get up to the half wall in this video clip. I say "Dada" when I reach the top to call my Dad.

I brush my teeth

I copy my parents and brush my teeth. I have always been especially fascinated by the electric toothbrush but my parents don't give it to me because it has a pointy part that could hurt me. Watch me 'brushing' my teeth in this videoclip:

I had a great Easter

We went to visit Nonna & Nonno for Easter. I had a great time and got presents too! Thank-you Nonna! You really shouldn't have.

I am 14 months old today

Height: 82cms
Weight: 28.5 lbs

I nap only once now

It seems my napping routine has changed now. I nap around 12noon for about two hours now. I no longer take my afternoon nap which used to be around 5-6pm. Instead, mommy tries to get me to fall asleep around 10pm. I have been waking up one hour later and crying my eyes out. I don't stop crying until mom or dad puts a DVD on for me, then finally I fall back asleep. I wake up around 6am in the morning. I still wake up several times through the night for a bottle and to hug my dada.

I like baby corn

My mom chops up little pieces of baby corn and I eat them myself.

14 month milestone progress

Mastered Skills (most children can do)
• Finger feeds - yes for quite sometime now. Lately he eats chopped carrots and baby corn, rice krispies, etc.
• Empties containers of contents - yes
• Imitates others - yes - especially tries to imitate words, dances if you dance

Emerging Skills (half of children can do)
• Toddles well - he's been running a long time, since he was 12 months old atleast
• Initiates games - not sure about this one. I think he will initiate a game if you show him once first, then he will want to continue playing it, but he won't initiate it out of the blue himself
• Points to one body part when asked - no, but will point at mommy's yes, nose, mouth. He will pat his own head if you ask him who Alessandro is.

Advanced Skills (a few children can do)
• Uses spoon or fork - yes, uses a spoon sometimes amazingly well!
• Matches lids with appropriate containers (e.g. pots and pans) - he puts lids on containers but I haven't tested whether he will do this with a variety of containers
• Pushes and pulls toys while walking - he's been doing this one for a long time, especially with his Go Diego Go scooter that he got for his 1st birthday

I make funny faces & sounds

I have discovered climbing

So far, I climb the sofa and the stroller and jump up and down on them once I reach the top. Video footage to come soon.

Modeling my "Tuff Guy" Outfit

Nonna got me this really cute outfit called "Tuff Guy" from when she went to California. I also model the matching jacket. I model well when I am sleeping, don't I?

I can eat a quarter chicken now

I am a big growing boy who can eat a 1/4 rotisserie chicken in one sitting. I really like my chicken. Yum!
